Come experience a new kind of escape at RelaxLab in Tyler, TX. Our isolation tank, often referred to as a sensory deprivation tanks (At Relax Lab, we have two pools and a pod), offer the floater a chance at an altered state of consciousness and the ability to escape the pressures of the day. Floats are pitch-black, light-proof, soundproof, and gently heated to the temperature of your skin. Each pod is filled with enough water and dissolved Epsom salt to create a sense of weightlessness — allowing you to float effortlessly on the surface of the water; similar to being in the Dead Sea or outer space. Common benefits include an extraordinary state of relaxation, stress reduction, muscle recovery and enhanced creativity.

Float Around Room

The Float Around Presence is one of our most popular new sensory deprivation experiences. Unlike other flotation tanks, it has a deep pool shape which promotes a profound sense of calm.

Evolution Float Orb

The Evolution Float Orb is just that — an evolution to traditional float pods. Amazing acoustics, binaural beats, and a starlit ceiling move your entire body into a new world of relaxation. One you’ll only find at RelaxLab.

How Do The Float Tanks Work?

The purpose of the float is to eliminate as many external senses as possible. This removal of stimuli (sensory deprivation) can induce a meditative state and transformative experience for the floater. Once relaxed in a float-state, the body is now totally supported, and there is little for the brain to do. Every muscle is able to relax as the effects of gravity are temporarily suspended. Here’s what you can expect when you arrive:

Step 1 - Arrive and check in. We’ll cover any questions you have together.

Step 2 - Next, take a quick shower in your private float room. This helps remove any excess oils before you begin.

Step 3 - Put in earplugs. This keeps the world at bay and lets you rest uninterrupted.

Step 4 - Step into your pool or pod . Now the fun begins.

Step 5 - Sensored lights will slowly turn down, and your sensory deprived, relaxation experience will have begun.

Step 6 - Once your session is complete, the music fades in easing you out of your float.

Step 7 - Lights will turn on as you begin to move and reorient your mind and body.

Step 8- Step out of your pool or pod and walk to the shower to rinse off excess salt water.

Step 8 - Get dressed, head to our stocked blow dry bar for your back-to-reality needs.

Step 9 - Bask in your post-float glow, have some complimentary tea, and enjoy your new state of calm.

What Do You Experience in An Isolation Tank?

Many people describe using our floats like hitting the reset button on their life. The quiet, restricted environmental stimulation therapy (REST) helps the floater learn how to truly let go and relax, which has become so difficult in our hectic society. Sensory deprivation effects include many physiological benefits such as reduced muscle tension, enhanced sleep-quality, and a deep meditative state.

Who Can Benefit From Sensory Deprivation Tank Therapy?

Everyone can float and benefit from the therapeutic results. You don’t need any practice, knowledge or special discipline either. The tank does all the work for you. For those who live with PTSD, acute anxiety and depression, floating can also be a safe place to decompress and allow meaningful personal discovery to occur. In addition to these benefits, habitual floating allows people to develop a type of “body memory” that promotes energy and well-being — something they can take into their daily life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring anything?

If you want any personal affects for post float you’re welcome to bring them (i.e. hairbrush). Towels, robes, blowdryers, earplugs and everything else you need are provided.

How are tanks kept clean?

Glad you asked! The highly sterile salt water is fully filtered three times between each float and is then sanitized with UV light.

Can I bring a friend?

Sure, you can! You can float together as a couple in one of our two Floatarounds or you can float in separate rooms. When choosing your float partner, keep in mind, your best float experience is unencumbered by clothing.

Is this a new-agey mumbo jumbo

No mumbo or jumbo here. Floating has been around over half a century and has oodles of published research to back it up.

What if I’m claustrophobic?

Good News! People with claustrophobia consistently report no problems with floating, and two of our floats are, in fact, gigantic open pools.

Can I drown if I fall asleep?

Nope. Some people fall asleep, but the water is so buoyant you stay afloat. The worst that can happen is getting woken up by a bit of salt water in your eyes.
